Staff Accountant (Direct Hire)
- Process and record daily insurance (IBM) and medical benefit (MBM) payments while ensuring accuracy and timely posting.
- Reconcile daily IBM and MBM payment activity to the general ledger and related bank accounts.
- Prepare weekly invoices for all insurance and medical benefit payment transactions.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of cash accounts and bank statements to maintain accurate financial records.
- Record banking activity, including checks, ACH transactions, invoices, and other cash-related entries.
- Prepare and submit monthly borrowing certificates to banking partners.
- Coordinate and process fund transfers as directed by the CFO.
- Manage billing, collections, and the posting of out-of-pocket expenses in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Assist with financial analysis and the preparation of reports for management, the Board of Directors, and administrators.
- Partner with senior accounting staff and account management on special projects and issue resolution.
- Support external audits by providing documentation and assisting with monthly and annual reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of accounting or finance experience; equivalent education and experience considered.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, charting, and data analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Great Plains, Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software, and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of SQL, payroll/timekeeping systems, and proprietary software is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- High attention to detail with the ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in the health insurance industry is preferred.
